Directions:
brown onions, celery, and meat in pan, add garlic at the end so it doesn't turn bitter.
Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for at least 30 minutes. Take the bay leaf out before serving.
The syrup cuts the acid from the tomatoes and gives it a gentle sweetness.
